Correct Rowing Technique
Переглядів 2,2 млн13 років тому
The Rowing Stroke The rowing stroke can be divided into two parts: The drive and the recovery. You will learn a coordinated movement pattern built upon the following positions and phases: The Recovery (Phase 1) ■Extend your arms until they straighten. ■Lean your upper body forward to the one o'clock position. ■Once your hands and the oar handle have cleared your knees, allow your knees to bend ...
Yeah. No. The concept of 'correct' is based upon the amount of power you can release, as if you were racing, that is performing to an ideal not necessarily in accord with your goals. These machines have sufficient flexibility that you can adjust the stroke in many useful ways. An underhand grip, for one. Also, to protect recovering knees, you can alter the amount of work to emphasize the back and/or the arms.
Very clear and helpful. I am a newbie just teaching myself on gym rowing machines. The 1 o’clock, 11 o’clock and straight shins markers are really useful to know as is the breakdown of legs/body/arms. Thank you.
Glad these videos are out there. Mine arrived yesterday and after a half hour my back was a wreck because I was rowing like a pleb.
3878 m après 15 jours sans rien faire sur rameur ❤
At 71, I just started rowing a week ago with my Concept 2, this is the best illustrated demonstration after viewing several. Thank you!!!
Perhaps the best video about rowing. 100% demonstration of the right technique unlike other videos where the talk is 80% and demonstration of technique is hardly 20% Kudos.
Why can’t I go all the way back on the rower Is that OK?
Excellent video. Thank you.
Her technique is perfect notice how she rows not in a straight line forward and backwards and how she rows legs body arms arms body legs as separate motions!! Well done
I am actually a national rower rowing for Adelaide University Rowing Club, head of regatta’s and would like to say that your technique is wrong, but some of it is correct. The oars at one o’clock must be below the ribs but above the legs, I also noticed that your back is not as straight at the finish position which is essential to row in. This comment is purely for younger rowers with less experience and in no particular insults towards you all I wanted to do was correct your technique so that younger rowers don’t grow up having an incorrect technique. Good luck for everyone out there
Please elaborate then. And what do you mean by not straight back at the finish, it should then be at 12 o'clock instead of 11? Or do you mean still at 11 o'clock but straight from the hips up, as one does during a deadlift (she seems to bend lower back slightly even at the beginning of the recovery, weird)?
In my opinion you missed the most important part: the initial part of the stroke should be done almost exclusively by your legs! The woman in the video does this, but it is not addressed in the explanation. The initial part of the stroke requires the most power because the boat has lost the most momentum at that point, so we use our strongest body parts, our legs, to overcome this, not our arms or back.
Separating out the specific parts and tools for each of the seven step assembly process steps was brilliant on the part of the manufacturer. For the price, I am impressed at how sturdy this ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxvObaTzoHoHQLL4lHbJQmExHqsrZQm-f7 unit is and it does go together easily. Well, I was puzzled at first at Step 5 and maybe the instructions should mention that rail #62 needs to be tilted upwards a little to get the rail to fit into the main part #44. I like it that the rower can be stored vertically in a really small amount of space, but be forewarned that this rower is top heavy and for safety you'll need at least two bungee cords to keep the unit upright, attaching them to something; in my case to a third garage door. I have had this unit only a short time, and I will post an update once I've had it for a year. As for working your legs, I have to admit that I'm mainly rowing for upper body strength and I use other forms of exercise for leg strength (like walking fast, biking, or using a trampoline. But if you pull as far forward as possible, then you can give preference to your legs for the first 4 feet or so of travel. I also admit to not taking the two electronic connectors apart at Step 7. I simply inserted the two batteries while the other parts remained connected. By the way, there is plenty of resistance here, even in the lowest resistance settings. Kudos to Sunny Health & Fitness !
Easy to install and use. No problems with the water or any leakage. There are no foot adjustments however. Small issue
Awesome technique!
Beta video on the topic
I discovered the rowing machine late in life, and I am grateful for this video. Seriously, I don't like exercise, but something about the rowing machine just feels right. Maybe it's the fact that it only goes as hard as I want it to. Dunno. Thanks for the vid!
THE FOOTY SHOW USED TO BE A GREAT SHOW, WHAT HAPPENED NOW?
Great demo and instructions. Still helpful in 2023.
dear friends. putting a rowing machine in front of a lake makes you look like idiots. best regards.
starting to get into the gym and the rowing machine is my favourite excercise
Technique is everything. I’ve had my Concept 2 since 2017, but recently I got off somehow in my form. Now I have one of the worst cases of tennis elbow imaginable. I can hardly lift my arm. Unable to do much of anything now. Be careful.
Step 1: have enormously long legs 😂
@Concept2Australia N.B. this video appears to contradict the PM5 'how to row' animation which says 'lean back slightly at the end of ths stroke' whereas your video has the person leaning back well before the end of the stroke. Which is correct?!
She makes it look so easy. Especially the legs and back sequencing.
excellent explanation, precise and clear without unnecessary gibberish .l saw many videos about rowing but your`s the best thank you very much.
Thank you so much to be so clear, precise and efficient (a new user of concept 2 in France, a Very happy one)
How many reps should I do on a rowing machine?
Is a rowing machine a good workout?
Correct rowing technique is putting your machine next to a lake surrounded by ravines.
Great video!
Excellent training video to learn from. Slow and repetitive so even the slowest of learners like me can understand what to do. I should have watched this video before hopping on my rower thinking I would just know what to do. I now will begin to work on breaking some obviously flawed techniques and start getting a much better workout. Thanks!
1:03 basic tech
I love how he said, just don’t fkin overthink it man
Thanks for this video, it helps a lot! This woman is a very good model and let us see how a good posture looks like.
She has a bit too much bend to the wrists as they recommend against here: ua-cam.com/video/I-5z_pzc3OM/v-deo.html
Thank you so much for this explanation. I was doing it totally wrong. :(
This is as good as rowing gets. Excellent demo.
Knees locked straight or not?
And here I thought you rowed a boat.
Ooops I’ve been shooting the slide
太棒啦 嗨 你好,偶然點進影片教學連結的人,祝你身體健康萬事如意😂
This is really helpful. Thank you!
Good video but if I had a lake like this I'd never ever step onto an erg.
She has a very smooth stroke cycle, thumbs up!
and what to eat! ua-cam.com/video/TajZpvZUCK4/v-deo.html
Excellent. Thanks. 👍
Great video. Quick and straight to the point. Just ordered myself a Concept 2 RowErg and this video is definitely going to help.
I ordered mine a month ago. Best thing I ever done hands down. You will love it
Just got mine. How are things going with the RowErg for you?
.....ни в одной лодке или байдарке сиденье не ездиет. Оно зафиксировано.
Forgot to mention engage abs, before leaning back,or you will end up with lower back pain.
If you play the video at 0.25x, you can see her starting to bend her elbows midway through the leg straightening. Isn’t arm bend supposed to happen later? Her arm bend does happen a bit later when she slows down her stroke rate.
